Good lord, for like the third month in a row I have been pounded with bandwidth costs because the jerkstores at Yahoo video and Altavista Video search posted links to videos on my site! I had a clip from SNL of Rush Limbaugh that was quite funny, I recorded and encoded it for viewers of my blog. I came to find that within the last week I had almost 2,500 people download that video. It is only 12 megs big, but that really adds up. Last month I paid almost $20 for bandwidth because of those bastards linking to my site. I can never again host videos because Yahoo likes to link to them. Needless to say that I only use Google.
The down-side to having eliminated comments from this blog is that I never know if people are actually reading it. I'm going to try to get a better comments form up soon, I hope.
I am on my 4th and hopefully last draft of my statement of purpose for the GSPM. I really want to just send in the application already and find out if I'm in. I still have one prof that I'm waiting for the recommendation from. Between the statement of purpose and my resume that I've made for this application, I'd say it is the most time I've put into any project, ever. If I keep up this procrastination on my capstone thesis, that could hold true even after this semester. It is 3:50 AM CST and I cannot sleep for the life of me. I've gotten in this to bed by 4 AM and get up by 1 or whenever I have class. Hopefully I can break out of this cycle pretty soon, at least before I go to El Salvador. Wow, that's one week from today. Anyway, my goal is to have the application finished and sent in as of Wednesday of this week, we'll see if I can do it.
I'm going to go back and try to go to sleep. Otherwise I can always do some wikipedia editing.
Rick Santorum has upset the Club For Growth and other fantastic organizations with his crazy proposal to raise the minimum wage to $6.25 over a year and a half!! Not only that, but this amendment he is proposing would create flexibility that would benefit workers everywhere! Instead of having a silly 40 hour work week, we would have an 80 hour two week work period! This means that you could work 60 hours one week and 20 hours the next, and not have to worry about pesky overtime wages! But wait, there's more! Staunch states-rights supporter Sen. Santorum wants to make states adopt a 100% tip credit system! Why should resturants be forced by state governments to pay tipped employees anything at all if they break the minimum wage mark with their tips?? He could have stopped there, but when you are on a crusade to improve America's work places, why would you? Sen. Santorum wants businesses that have fewer than $1 million in revenues to be exempt from the minimum wage and overtime laws. The 6.8 million American workers at firms that will be brought under this new umbrella should call the Senator and thank him personally.
I just wanted to say that I fully support Amy Klobuchar if she decides to run for Mark Dayton's seat in the US Senate in 2006. Not only can she beat the slime-ball Mark Kennedy, but she would make an excellent Senator. Anyway, I just got the klobuchar.org domain to hold for her in the event that she does run. Just to keep this jerkstore from grabbing it up.
I think I'll fire off an e-mail to her husband, Mr. Bessler, who got klobucharforsenate.com, and see if they can accept the domain I'm holding as a donation to the campaign.
Hopefully I'll have updates soon.
