There is a God!

Finally, Russell Crowe was put in his place when Elf beat him at the box office this weekend. And you may ask where I've been this weekend and lately? New York City is my answer. My lady and I went for a few days, and had a fantastic time. I may talk about it later...

So first the US overthrows Saddam and installs their own, hand-picked government, which is democratic if you count the dozen or so men who elected them in Washington DC. Now Shrub's puppets aren't doing what he told them to, so he wants to scrap them too. Now there is a story about American soldiers killing a council official, where does it stop? I think Shrub should do what we've done in the past, install a dictator who will turn against us later. We seem to be really good at that sort of thing, stomping out democracy when it doesn't suit us to put our own leaders in. Read the story here.

The movie that I most look forward to over the next few months is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and it looks like they are going to re-edit it for more wide-spread appeal. This is going to turn what could be a great movie into a really dumb one. It has Jim Carrey, it is written by Charlie Kauffman, and the premise is fantastic. They want to re-edit it for release in March instead of the version they have now in November.

Yeah, so according to TimPa, the weather today is too bad to fly to LaCross to talk to Doyle. It's only like an hour and a half drive from St. Paul, God forbid he needs to drive through the state where he lives. I agree that he shouldn't fly, it was weather like this that took down Wellstone's plane, but I'm guessing that he doesn't have the time to drive to meet. Couldn't they talk on car phones on the way to meet each other and then continue their talks? Eh, this is a pointless meeting anyway.

O'Doyle Rules!

OK, so there was a security guard who took it upon himself to shoot a 16-year old kid in the back while driving away. This guy has to have a licence to carry a gun, he's a security guard. This is exactly what happens when concealed carry laws are passed, people who can legally carry guns will shoot first and execute people for petty crimes. We all know it was the security guard's God-given right to carry a gun and protect himself, it sure seemed like his life was in danger when the kid was driving away from him... Everybody's favorite American Indian who lost the Green Party primary to the Blind candidate, Ray Tricomo, is back in the news, and backing non-Indian owned casinos. They want to build a casino in the Mall of America, which would probably bring tons of money to the state which is losing tons of money with our Republican Governor... Indian casinos give nothing back to the state, and make over $3-billion a year, and McGaa makes an important point, there aren't many American Indians in upper management at the casinos in Minnesota. The whole point of letting them run casinos is to give back to entire groups of people that were pushed aside in the forming of the State of Minnesota and the US. Why is there still high numbers of unemployed and homeless American Indians in the Twin Cities? Why do we grant a monopoly to a small group of people who take in huge amounts of money and don't give back to the community that they were supposed to support when they were allowed to develop casinos? For once I agree with Ed McGaa, maybe a little outside competition will get these casinos to shape up, and it will bring a lot of business to the failing disaster that is the MOA and the State of Minnesota.
